How We're Helping Others

Southern Service Dogs Inc. started from a need to help relieve everyday difficulties that come from various disabilities with the use of service dogs. Aimed at helping to improve functioning in everyday life. Dogs have the ability to detect increased stress levels in humans and to detect medical emergencies. Research on the use of service dogs has been shown to decrease stress, lower symptoms of PTSD, decrease isolation, and increase independence in people suffering with feelings of hypervigilence, depression, and anxiety. We accept both rescue dogs and dogs bred for the correct temperament to be trained to relieve the symptoms of the specific disability of the individual.  Executive Director and Dog Trainer, Jim Mathys, has over 40 years of experience in training service animals. He has extensive knowledge about the ADA laws about service dogs and provides education and support to the clients helped by Southern Service Dogs Inc.
